First. I know normal physics don't apply to a fantasy game but lets just play with the thought.



Lets take a look at a Quickling Monk level 18/Sorc level 1. (The Quickling has the run feat & Expeditious Retreat)

Expetidious Retreat => Run speed = 7200' per round



1 foot = 30,48 cm

1 kilometers/hour = 0.62137 miles/hour

1 Mach [dry air, 273 Kelvin] = 33162.2 centimeters/second



Lets make an assumption

1 round = 6 sec



So that would mean:

7200' per 6 sec = 36576 cm/sec = 1316,736 km/h = 818,2 miles/hour

Quickling Monk/Sorc Speed = 1,1 Mach

And this is without adding the extra partial action Quicklings normally have. (With the extra partial action the speed would almost be 1,7 Mach )



The normal running speed for a human (no feat) would in this system (D&D) be:

120'/ 6sek = 609,6 cm/sek = 22 km/h = 13,6 miles/hour (Edited from 13,7 miles/hour)

Since terminal velocity is ~150 miles an hour, that poor quickling, upon reaching a wall of force, would be subject to 160d6 of non-typed damage.

That's going linearly, of course it should be a lot more than that. Quickling would be taking six dice of damage for every hit point it had, I would wager.

Ah, but his rushing into the wall would only count as a bullrush. Which would automaticly fail against a wall of force, stopping him immediately and dropping him in the square before hitting the wall.

Remember that monk can run that 720' in one round and sit down in his partial without sliding a single foot.

That's the reason it's called "supernatural" I guess.

Otherwise try and imagine the little guys smile at that speed.... Picturing people putting their heads out of windows in moving cars..... Or what about the overheating.

Bull rushing a wall of force is impossible using the rules.

Considering that the monk cannot move into the defenders space then it cannot be a bull rush in the first place. So I have to agree with the wall of force would do damage. Running into a wall at a run speed is 1d6 damage. Times that by the speed the monk is going divided by the average speed of a human. so 1d6 * 7200/30. so 3.5*240 or 840 hp of damage. bye bye.

Sorry divide that by the run distance of a normal humanoid. 7200/120 for only 210 points of damage.

I guess it depends on what you want the quickling to be. If it's like the Road Runner, it would scream right up to the wall of force and come to a dead stop, without getting hurt at all. If it's like the Coyote, it would plow straight into the wall and make a wacky BOING sound.

Not only that, but it's nose would be flattened like a crushed spring, but the next time you see it, it's nose would be miraculously fine.
