Can a creature with burrow and fly speeds....

Can a creature with both burrow and fly speeds (i.e. a blue dragon) dive at the ground, then without letting up, immediately begin burrowing on impact instead of taking damage? What about a creature with a fly speed (normal or temporary) and the earthglide ability? Would these creatures take falling damage or just pass through the crust of the earth unharmed?

I wouldn't have a problem with flying straight into burrowing, although I'd limit the total distance to the lower of the 2 speeds (most likely burrowing). If you look at burrowing monsters and how fast they move, it's a pretty durn magical ability, in the everyday sense of the word. That's not even mentioning how gargantuan creatures can fly.

if it does not land on the gound it hits the gound and so takes falling damage but if its willing to take the hit i'd let it go right in to the borrow

I'd probably allow it if the dragon was flying at its Burrow speed upon impact. Possibly, no more than half.

It would look fantastic, though.

Of, course, anyone riding it gets trimmed off during the transition.

Earthglide is definitely the way to go. You can not only dive into the ground, you can swim through it like water.

Mental image of the dragon breaching like a whale, flinging a PC into the air like an orca with a seal, and falling back to Crush a couple other PCs beneath its body...
