Can anyone find me a necromantic Bard class (not prestige class, a normal class)? I had an image of some dude all in black singing bad to the bone with a harp radiating with black magic in the middle of a graveyard, with skeletons rising from their graves (yeah it reeks of limburger, I know.)

Salutations,

I don't recall ever seeing one, but it could not be too hard to make:

Just abandon the current bard spell list and change it to necromancer spells (You might want to get a d20 necromancer supplement for more low level necro spells).

The songs only affect undead allies- and the Dirge bard must take a feat to affect living creatures (just use the opposite of the one that allows the affecting of undead in S&S- iirc there is on there...err...).

Or just make a necromancer with the perform skill- give them a feat to substitute components for a full round casting that uses music.

Good Luck!

From Song & Silence, page 40.

"Requiem
[General]
Your bardic music affects undead creatures .
Prerequisite : Bardic music ability, 12+ ranks in Perform .
Benefit: You can extend your mind-affecting bardic
music and virtuoso performance effects so that they influ-ence
even the undead. All bardic music effects on undead
creatures have only half the duration they normally would
against the living .
Normal: Undead are usually immune to mind-influencing
effects"

I also recommend the Pale Master from Tome & Blood (page 65). The requirements are pretty easy for a Bard to attain.

Yes you said not a prestige class, but you should still check out the book Hollowfaust, city of necromancers. The Mourner prestige class for bards that might suit you.
