Can anyone help host the map of the IR?

Those of us participating in the 4th Industrial Revolution are using this map here. The problem is that it's a bit large, and the site is cumbersomely slow, and hard to use as well.

I'm just curious if anyone is willing to host this map for us. I don't have any access to a faster server myself, so I'm not able to do any better than the person already hosting the map is. Anyone have any ideas?

Apparently the host has a great deal of trouble getting the link to work properly, so if that link doesn't work, just take this url and plug it into the window: http://www.geocities.com/provostcheckmate/The_Realms_IR_Map.gif

Can't get to the site right now (darn geocities!), but I can host a map for you. Just email it to me and I'll post it (and a link). I check my email several times a day, so I can always post an updated map fairly quickly (if it changes).

Re: Re: Can anyone help host the map of the IR?

OK, I got in an grabbed the pic.

I have put up a page with links to two copies of the map. The first is a bitmap image. It's 6 megs, so it takes a long time to display. The second is the same map in JPEG form. It's only about 1 meg in size, and therefore displays a lot more quickly.

If this isn't what you needed, just let me know and I'll fix it.

The link is http://www.wayson.net/games/ir/index.html

I will now spend a few minutes, prettying up the page. :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Can anyone help host the map of the IR?

One final idea....

We could shrink the image down a bit, for those times you just want to see the colors and don't need to read all the fine print on the map.

It's quite large, and just cutting the width in half reduces the size of the jpeg file from 1401 KB (over 1 megabyte) to 300 KB (less than 1/3 megabyte).

With the text index page, you could click on the large image link only when really necessary, using the smaller image when you just want to see the "big picture" & ignore the fine print.

Wow, thanks muchly.

You've set it up perfectly. However you want it is fine, afterall, we're certainly thankful just to have the maps up, but a page with the resized versions and all is incredible.

That was incredibly timely of you, hold on, I'll make a link to this thread in the IR threads so the people know who to thank for their map use.

Thanks

Thanks, Barendd!!

It has been a while since I saw you at the EN World Game Day. It has been a while since I saw you at an EN World Game Day.

I will also have to find time to get to some of the local Living Greyhawk events. (Busy with night classes.)

While it looks like things are on hold, due to Edena's computer problems, I would like to thank Barendd for his efforts. The page looks great. (I don't know how long Edena will be gone or what yet becomes of the IR, but Barendd I would like to ask that you join the IR when Edena comes back.) So, on Edena's behalf, I say thanks again.

I was at a very good table sometime back with Barendd and several other players at a Chicago area Living Greyhawk game. Barendd is a very good role player, and stood out at a table of excellent role players.

So, three cheers for a great guy.

Creamsteak, thanks for searching for someone to host the maps! Regardless of what happens to the IR, whether we continue or restart when Edena comes back, your efforts are appreciated.

Re: Thanks

To William Ronald & Timothy: You're very welcome. It was fun to do, and pretty quick as well.

I don't think I have time for that! I didn't even have time to *read* the last one. :)

I started running an online game of "The End" (heavy on the role playing and light on the combat) and I have found most of my free time going to that endeavor.

Good luck with the IR! Now, I have to ask, is this a "Gnomish IR" or just a plain "IR"? Just curious.

Thank you Barendd, I really appreciate it. ;)
Unfortunately Edena is probably going to be off line for quite some time and the IR is (probably) on hold until he returns.

It's pretty gnomish, at least the beginning. Now all the Gnomes are either dead or assimilated by their conquerers.
