Anyway I'm really intrigued by the whole La Belle Epoque era now and was wondering if anyone has ever played in this era (roughly 1880 - 1910)

My second question is Lovecrafts Cthulu novels were also written/set around this era so could d20CoC be modified and used to model the La Belle Epoque? What needs to be changed/expanded on

(Thought I posted on this thread earlier, but I guess not....)

First, a nitpick. Most of Lovecraft's work that we know today was written after 1910 (most 1916 or later).

But on to more important things. There is an RPGA campaign called "Living Death" which is set in the 1890s. It's basically a Ravenloft Masque of the Red Death setting, but it's been updated to 3e. It's online at http://www.livingdeath.org and it's free.

Depends on what you want from the Victorian epoch. If you want Tarzan, you certainly don't want CoC: you probably want to wait for d20 Supers! :D

Nah Tarzans not 'super' - I did him up as a Barbarian/alt.Ranger/Rogue with 18 in everything. And then advanced him through the levels.

Kid Charlemagne
Yes please write that story hour - I'd love to see it.

and Darkness is this a D20 system game thread?
I intended it as a general thread re Rp in the 1890s and wondered if CoC would fit (I though it was general:()

I think the best d20 game for that era is the upcoming Forbiddeb Kingdoms from Other World Creations.

From their website:
By and large the world of Forbidden Kingdoms is very much like our own. The timeline for the setting spans the 50 years from 1889 to 1939 and captures the full reign of the pulp era. We’ve set the stage on an alternate Earth that is full of “what if” possibilities. Forbidden Kingdoms is a world that still has the spark of adventure in it, where you can still traverse the darkest parts of Africa in search of hidden caches of treasure or stop the World Crime League from taking over the world. It is a place where Good vs. Evil is as simple as black and white, and where “the seed of crime” does indeed bear bitter fruit.

The game will be released this month...

In fact, Forbidden Kingdoms has a complete martial arts system that will let you create characters whose style can be everything from Penjak Silat to Savate, to anything else you can think of. And, one of the first supplements released for Forbidden Kingdoms is going to be Paris, the Spectral City.

Should be in stores in a couple of weeks. :)
