Can D20CoC used for La Belle Epoque late 19th Century Moulin Rogue,Tarzan, Savate

Just spent time reading about the history of Savate (French Kick-boxing) and its relationship to the Moulin Rogue and the whole La belle époque, the "beautiful era" in Paris in the last decade of the 19th Century. (Apparently Savate combined the straight kicks of Can-Can with earlier naval kickfighting, english boxing and Canne fencing (developed when carrying rapier/swords was banned)

Anyway I'm also a fan of the Tarzan novels which are set in a similar timespan (and Tarzan Lord greystoke spends time in Bohemian Paris after his return to England)

Anyway I'm really intrigued by the whole La Belle Epoque era now and was wondering if anyone has ever played in this era (roughly 1880 - 1910)

My second question is Lovecrafts Cthulu novels were also written/set around this era so could d20CoC be modified and used to model the La Belle Epoque? What needs to be changed/expanded on

As other inspiration (in filling out the setting) we can call on Tarzan, the Movie Moulin Rogue, Sherlock Holmes, Lovecraft, Poe - especially Murders in Rue Morgue -anything else?

Anyone interested?

Did my signame just swing the pendulum the other way? :D

How about the Last Emperor of China, all the anarchist assassination attempts on various political figures, the race to the South Pole for you "Mountains of Madness" fans, and for political intrigue, the age of imperialism leading to the big naval arms race among blood-related monarchs.

Rah !!!! Moulin R-O-U-G-E ! "Red Mill" ! ROGUE is the D&D character class, ROUGE is the French name of the color red. And, because of that, the English name of a reddish makeup accessory.

It seems. It's sad. People just don't know how to spell. (I don't say that for you, I know your nick is a play-on-words.)

First, a nitpick. Most of Lovecraft's work was written after 1910. He was born in 1890, so anything written during your time period he probably considered just juvenile jottings. Some of his works are set in that time period, but most are a bit later (1920s and 1930s). Some of his stories reference stuff in that time period, even when the main action occurs later in time.

The time period has been "done" before as a role-playing game--check out Cthulhu by Gaslight and Ravenloft Masque of the Red Death - I think those are both set in the 1890s. There is also an RPGA Living campaign called "Living Death" that uses the 1890s time period. They have converted to 3e--and it's free--at http://www.livingdeath.org/

Finally, yes, I'd be interested in your version. Great time period to play in!
