Cool.
I tend to go character happy - I come up with an idea, then go through all the books I've got looking at how to build the most minmaxed version I can (not CharOp boards level, but what I can, which is pretty good). So for fantasy I build a fighter, and a mage then something else.... by the time I'm done I've got a really good feel for what works and any odd rules - say I decide to build a counterspell focused mage - by the time I'm done I know the counterspelling system, and Dispel Magic spells well.
Then I file them all away, and use them for NPCs later.![]()
That's a good idea. Once I've read the books (I'm also taking notes as I read, this enhances my understanding of the rules), I'll create some characters.
There are about a dozen pre-generated historical characters that the Recoiled folks created that I have. I'll also study those people.
