Can one player do an entire Skill Challenge?

I am designing a skill challenge for my first 4e campaign, and reading through the rules I don't see what would prevent the party from having the same character with the highest skill applicable to the challenge roll over and over until all successes are achieved. Did I miss something?

Not really. You could set a time limit, add events that happen each round or other time period, restrict the number of successes that each skill can gain, or say that characters who don't make any checks don't get the benefit of the challenge, depending on its nature.

Alternately you could write up little combat sheets for each character that are based on their skills lists, then write up similar ones that represent things to be overcome in the skill challenge, then run combat between the two.

"Ok, he uses his bluff skill to shift 3 squares, then his streetwise crits you for 6 ego hitpoints and sends you stumbling into ulfgar's endurance"

Or something like that...

Although it's been erratted out, I still use a normal initiative for my PCs when I run Skill Challenges. When their turn comes up, they have to act. It could be something as boring as using Aid Another for that player's next skill attempt, but at least it's something. Luckily for me, all of the players in my group WANT to try to contribute to the Skill Challenges.
Later!
