Can some one help price an item?

I don't have my Tome and Blood with me, but I need the price of a magic item. Here are the details:

4th lvl Spell:
7th lvl Caster:
Command Word to Activate:
Does use a space slot on character:
Usable 1/day, or 1 charge/day:

If anybody has their Tome and Blood handy and could figure this out for me I'd really be greatful.

PS. What the price of the same item be usable twice per day.

any spell, command word - spell lvl x caster lvl x 1800 gp

---4x7x1800=50,400 gp

charges per day - divide by (5-charges per day)

50, 400 / 4 = 12,600 gp

does use a space slot -- no change

**12,600 gold pieces

usable twice day

50,400 / 3 = 16, 800 gp

(i think that's right )

I thought it was 1800 x lvl x caster lvl but I couldn't remember.

And I had no idea what the reduction was for usable once or twice a day. Thanks that really helps.

50, 400 / 4 = 12,600 gp

This part isn't correct. The actual formula in the books for charges per day is divide by (5/charges per day). So, you divide 5 by the number of charges per day, which equals 5 in this case, then divide your cost by that. However, like many posters have stated in other threads, it's easier to just treat the charges per day as a percentage and multiply your price by that: 1/day (20%), 2/day (40%), 3/day (60%), 4/day (80%), and 5/day (100%).

Either way you do it, the modified cost of 50,400 comes out to 10,080.

Thanks to all of those the pointed out the simpler pecentage method. I make so many frickin' magic items, you have no idea how much that has simplified the process.

i thought i copied the formula correctly - to be honest, i've never used, or really looked at those charts until today. i guess the DMG and Magic of Faerun have enough magic items for my games

That's a good question, actually - especially since there are only guidelines for the pricing of an item.

Not all items based on spells of a certain level are equal, after all (ring of invisibility, anyone?).

Yeah, I realized that a short while after I asked; I initially confused you with somebody else who's also very much into Lone Wolf. Which I like quite a lot, too, at that (too bad that only books 1-12 ever came out around here ).
