Can we stop cross-posting from RPG.net threads?

I found many of the threads that had been posted on both boards, EN World and rpg.net, very interesting. Sometimes the discussion here was better, sometimes the discussion on rpg.net. Without cross-posting I'd never get so many different takes, even more so as often one of the discussions ends up on a tangent.

Posting links is the problem?

I honestly can't understand what the problem is that people have with doing either--starting the same thread topic in both places, or linking from one place to another. Not that I do it often, but I certainly have no intention of stopping either practice.

I would ask that you don't stop :) It's a pain, in my opinion, but I just don't click the link unless it is something I am REALLY interested in.

But that's just me :)

Personally, I'm all in favor of crossposting from rpg.net or wherever else an intersting topic comes up. As long as the initial post has enough info that you're not *forced* to follow the link to contribute to the discussion. But yes, I do want the link there, just in case I'd like to see what's up in the other thread.

Just like I prefer that people atcually post the link to the latest Order of the Stick comic when inevitable discussion thread pops up. After all, that is crossposting too, right? Where are you going to draw the line?

There has been an upsurge in threads here on ENWorld that reference other threads on RPG.net -- for example,

Balancing "RP" and "G"
Assess this chap's position (3.0 and older versions)

As a concerned ENWorld citizen, I'd like to see people stop cross-posting discussions from RPG.net threads. RPG.net has a very, very different feel than ENWorld. In fact, the reason I read ENWorld and not RPG.net is precisely to avoid the types of converations that take place over there.

So if you want to discuss RPG.net stuff, do it on RPG.net.

So, wanting to discuss a particular topic in a different forum is bad? Or is noting that RPG.net was the original location bad?

I'm stuck somewhere between ROFLMAO and WTF

I suppose I didn't explain myself well enough. What I don't want to see are threads on EN World that reference a thread on RPG.net and "stir the pot" by asking EN World to argue over what was already argued over (likely in a much nastier way) on RPG.net.

Mods, feel free to close this thread or re-direct to Meta. I have nothing more to say, and it is already sliding into bitterness.

The previous two posts just continue my point.

One was asking that EN World not be used to argue points that have already been argued (not a terrible request really) and the other was a joke even if not a good one.
