Can you tell me if this character is too powerful?

Thanks for the info Macbrea.

They shouldn't introduce New gear without some specific rules.

I would say if it grants a "Bonus" then it does not grant the basic Armor protection and therefore cannot have an armor enhancement bonus. IE a bonus cannot be given to a bonus unless directly specified.

Also Only one magical Armor may be worn according to the Magic item location rules.

In a setting without easy access to resurrection and shields. This means that average samurai in those setitng ends up either wearing the really super heavy armors or the following combo.

Chain shirt
Dastana (Added arm plates)
Chahar-aina (Added chest plates)

Armor Bonus 6
Max Dex +4
Arcane failure 45%
Armor check penalty -4
Wieght 55lbs

Unenchanted with 18 dex = AC 20
Fully enchanted with 18 dex = AC 35

As you can see. If a player is given free ability to enchant the armor however they like their AC can become such a huge number they will quickly become unhittable. With the Application of good Gamemastering and economics you can slow that number down. If the player is allowed to take whatever they want freely. They can become a monster.

All of the above +5, Ring of protection +5, Amulet of natural armor +5, Combat expertise, dodge and defender katana +5 = AC 56.. people figure out ways to just break the system on purpuse. The game isn't balanced for that kind of play. And the rest of your players won't be very happy with the game play in which one player dominates the rest of them in the scenes.

Compared to the settings great armor.

Great Armor
Armor Bonus 7
Max Dex +2
Arcane failure 40%
Armor check penalty -5
Wieght 45 lbs

Here is the piece of armor from the wizards of the coast, that in the L5R setting they call the Dastana. You may be able to give us the correct term for this part of the japanese armor.
Maybe Dastana is a word from other culture which means corresponding parts of armor in their culture. But I don't know. At least that word is neither Japanese nor Chinese I believe.

It's definitely not Chinese. The dastana was used in India (but I don't know which of the many Indian languages the word comes from).

It's not Japanese, it's Indian.

I assume the Dastana and other accesories such as the Chahar-aina are added to a simple armor (light?) to make it better; you can rule it increases armor by filling up empty spaces (probably it cannot make usual medium armor or heavy armor any better).

How about this house rule: If this "split armor" is enchanted, only after all the pieces are enchanted with the same bonus toes it grant the full enhancement bonus. If there are different enhancement bonuses in different armor parts, just make a medium enhancement value (i.e if there is a piece +5, other +1 and other nothing, make (5+1+0)/3 = a total of +2 enhancement (although some pieces of the armor are harder to break).

Using a Urdu, classic hindi to english dictionary. I get this for a response on Dastana.

P dastana (dast, q.v.+suff.-ana=Zend ana or ana =S. an), s.m. A glove, a gauntlet; a falconer 's glove; the handle of a shield. dastar-khwan

Which wouldn't be unusual for the Rokungan setting. As it is set to take place in a mix japanese, chinese, asian setting. Which would be very in line with using bits of all the countries of asian.
