Can't Download from the ENGS

Hi,

I'm having trouble downloading NPC Designer from the ENGS. I bought it some time ago and I've only downloaded once or twice. I'm on a new computer now, so I was hoping to bring it over, but when I click on download, I get a page saying:

Warning: DB_Sql_vb::include_once(./includes/functions_log_error.php) [function.DB-Sql-vb-include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /http/includes/db_mysql.php on line 389

Warning: DB_Sql_vb::include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening './includes/functions_log_error.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /http/includes/db_mysql.php on line 389

This happens when I try to download any of my purchases, and I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for any help!

ENGS has been closed for nearly two years. Your best bet is to contact the publisher of the product you bought and ask them if they're willing to provide you with another copy, and prove you bought it once before. They won't be obligated to provide you with another copy (having done so originally), but a lot of publishers I'm willing to bet will be kind enough to do so.

I'm fairly sure RPAttitude, who sold NPC Designer, closed his account at ENGS long before the store closed anyway.

A couple of related sub-questions:

How would you suggest proving a previous sale? I've got copies of all the stuff I bought on the ENGS but I'm ever cautious, so I'm curious as to what I should bear in mind if the worst comes to the worst. :-)

Will the link to the old ENGS be gone when EN World 2 comes around? If it's kept, what exactly is the point if the downloads don't work?

I can still download one file on the old ENGS because it's a long-delayed project that keeps getting updated - will I still be able to get this via EN World 2? Or will I need to sort out something else with the individual seller?

I would suggest providing a receipt. If you used PayPal you can just grab the details off there by viewing your transaction history.

Alternatively, you could contact the company who ran ENGS, Twin Rose Software, who will no doubt be able to verify the purchase.

Yup.

The advertising system was part of it, and is the only portion of the store still active.

Technically, we shouldn't be distributing that seller's product at this point! Our license to do so expired when the store closed. I'm surprised a publisher is managing to update his product at the store - I didn't imagine that functionality was accessible, or if it was, that it worked. The store owner (Twin Rose Software) was supposed to have cleared out the store code except for the advertising portion.

The item in question is the Immortals Handbook - Ascension - which was first offered for pre-order when your store was alive, and is still not quite finished. :-)

Part of why I was asking is because I was surprised I could download that product and not any of the others. It seems you are also surprised, albeit from a slightly different perspective. ;-)
