Holy Ogre! The progress of the current Kickstarter has been unbelievable. That bodes well for Car Wars.

Was that game even winnable? My brother and I tried over and over again on our old Apple ][, but never made it very far.

I beat Autoduel on my old Apple IIe, more than once. Usually, I'd start in the casino, build up a bankroll, then buy a car & start doing missions or going to the Arenas. There were certain weapons I never got the hang of, though...but I did love rear mounted oil jets or side mounted flamethrowers.

Generally, though, I went for mid-sized fast cars so I could evade trouble.


Man, I'd love to see Autoduel come back...

For folks looking for a Car Wars-flavored fix, I've been playing the crap out of the iOS Death Rally for months now. It only allows cars and trucks, unfortunately, and while there's a single mass combat map, it's mostly on various race tracks. Still, extremely well done, and no math required.
