Car Wars 2013?

It wouldn't surprise me if a new version of Car Wars was made a little more manageable. GURPS 4E (imo) cleaned up a lot of the more confusing GURPS rules and made learning the game easier while still remaining essentially the same game. Though, I suppose the only way we'll find out what a new Car Wars looks like is to survive through the scheduled 2012 apocalypse.

They might as well integrate it with GURPS but somehow make it "GURPS-Lite" so that the game can be perhaps a little more accessible to the more casual gamer. I'd like to see Car Wars 2013 (?) use GURPS for the RPG side and present new/clarified rules for the vehicle stuff.

Was that game even winnable? My brother and I tried over and over again on our old Apple ][, but never made it very far.

I won in the arena a lot. Don't think I finished the game. And left it on old pc when I upgraded.

Or did I give that pc and software bundle to my cousins... too many nat 1 and steaks long ago.

I finished the Autoduel game several times. It had a pretty cool storyline for that sort of game. I enjoyed the "side quest" part as well.

Y'know, this might make for an interesting MMO. I know that there was a car-related one a while back, but it was sucky (IMO).

For my money, Interstate 76 was the best "Car Wars" game ever made for the PC. I'd love to see another version of Car Wars to play at the table. I disliked the last version they came out with. The version with the little booklets.

I'd be very interested in seeing this rise from the dead. CW was a staple for us back in high school -- we were able to convince my parents it was a board game, and therefore was not included when I was grounded from playing D&D. ;)

Bring on the Kickstarter!
