I just got a copy of the XPH, and while I'm going to avoid most comments because I've seen them rehashed here already, one thing does make me scratch my head.
In PsiHP 3.0, psicrystals had very clear rules for gaining them, for what happened when they were lost, and for their recovering when they take damage. XPH psicrystals, only say that you gain them when you take the feat, and little else.
So while I'm glad you no longer take an XP hit when your pet rock dies (I do so love how wizards/sorcerers are the only class that takes it on the chin when a class feature of theirs gets used), I do wonder what happens when your psicrystal actually gets damaged. Body Adjustment plus share power might work, might, depending on how the DM reads it. (But it's unlikely.) Besides, that requires a psion of minimum fifth level to pull off. Psionic Repair Damage is even worse, as it gobbles up a whole feat if you're not a Shaper and is still a rather weak power even if you are.
Furthermore, if your psicrystal happens to be destroyed, you really get screwed. Eating XP loss is bad. Losing a feat, permanently, and never having another chance unless you blow another feat has to be the worst penalty for companion loss ever. But by the book, there's no replacement for a destroyed psicrystal, at all.
Is there any errata, official or nearly so, on the issue? Or are things as bad as I'm seeing them?
