Carry Cases?

I decided to take the plunge today and got the collapsible wheeled crate from Staples. Was only $21 in the store.

The thing is freaking cool as hell. It's practically a transformer. :) Looks like it's got lots of room, too. The handle goes up plenty high. Claims to hold 70 pounds... Anyone know what that is in D&D books? :)

Really makes me wish I were running this weekend (I'm just playing), so I could give it a spin.

Good choice. I had about five of these at one point in time, all dedicated to game material. They're very durable and easy to store when you want to put the books up on a shelf. I don't have them anymore and, given my current transportation situation (I ride the bus pretty much everywhere), I don't think that they'd work as well for me -- though as soon as I get another vehicle I plan on grabbing a few more of these beauties.

Once, long ago, I bought a big, gray, hard-side briefcase thing (that actually looks big enough to be luggage) to try to tote all my 1st Edition books and a half-dozen stuffed file folders. Then I switched to 2nd Edition and was suddenly needing only the 3 core books again. I liked that. So even after starting to accumulate metric arseloads of 2E books I never tried to take more than a select few when I took the game on the road. I also eventually stopped taking the game on the road, and even though we played away from home I was able to keep a lot of my "excess" game stuff at the location where we DID game consistently.

I use the exact same case for my paintball marker. Except I bought some foam, cut it out to fit my marker, and then glued it to the inside.

You can find them in the tool dept. of home dept. For 20 bucks it might not be a bad idea to pick up 2 and then use both if you have extra books to carry.

Where do you buy your foam, Black_Swan? I'm looking for something to use as a minis-carrying-case (and the Home Depot box looks good for $20!), but I also need a good source for foam able to be sliced in varying thicknesses.

Have you tried a craft store like Micheal's or AC Moore?

I bought a rolling plastic toolbox from Lowes for less than $20. It has wills and a retracting handle like a piece of luggage. The bottom section is all open, boxy space and the top section is a traditional toolbox with a nuts/screws tray that swings out on a pivot. I keep loads of dice in that, minis in the tool box part (the tray divides the races, and big space under it holds the monsters and figures of size). It's quite handy, easy enough to port and, most importantly, cheap and easily replaceable. I would post a pic but I can't find my camera's USB cable.
