Carrying Capacity and Flying Mounts

First Post
In the MM is lists the Griffon's light load as being 300lbs. If travelling a long journey, are there any rules for how many hours a day a griffon can spend flyihg like this before it gets tired and has to rest?

No, I don't believe there is. But I'd say 8 hours. I know it sounds long, but with a light load, I think flying mounts are meant to be just that--flying mounts. So I'd allow them to put in a full day's worth of travel.

But this is a house rule. As I said, I don't believe there are actual rules covering this, unless they showed up in an issue of Dragon at some point...

Really, this shouldn't be changed for flying creatures. Just look up the overland travel section of the PH. The only refrence to anything even slightly related is that dragons check for subdual damage every other hour when making a "forced march" on the wing. Other than that flyers just use standard overland rules.

Warning House rule:

I have seen this question before; for 2e on rec.games.frp.dnd the best answer I saw was:

One fully armored knight and a scantily clad maiden.

Pets & Sidekicks
