I find the test illustration more the work for an illustrator then a cartographer, there's a thin line between the two, but worth the distiction. It would be helpfull when publishers are looking for freelancers to specify what kind of work they are looking for, the test image helps a lot, but what about dungeon maps, need these to be also 3d?

Also of interest to people wanting to reply to this call is what time frame your looking for artists, some people have a schedule or have already been booked until a certain time.

More specifics saves both you and the freelancer a lot of valuable time.

I also don't advertise jobs by saying: "Looking for a programmer, for both the windows and the linux platform. Send examples and include rates." If i advertise like this, a lot of good programmers that i would be looking for wouldn't even bother to apply...

i no longer have to time to negotiate. its the quickest way to bid out also. and many jobs incorporate such from government bidding to house repair - send me your rates!!! for 15 years i have filled out rate forms/estimations as a contractor and while seeking contractors.

in my exp (and I am now porting my management styles into TLG) it was quick, painless, easy and in the long run more cost effective time-wise and allowed us wiggle room on rates.

just me though.

Well, speaking as a consumer, you get a "good" and a "yuck" from me.

The village map was quite nice - I'd be very happy with that.

But "YUCK" on the dungeon map. Don't ever, ever print an adventure with that kind of map on it. If you do, at the very least, please ensure that the map has a grid - I would consider it then.

Again - spoken as a consumer of TLG products. No grid on interior maps = no sale for me.
