Cash Assets For High Level Characters In The SRD?

First Post
The table that lists the cash value of equipment that characters can be expected to have acquired as they rise in level; is it in the SRD or is it one of the value added bits of the books?

If it *is* in the SRD which section is it in? I had no luck when I looked for it last week.

It's not in the srd. Neither is the NPC gp chart. I think the modern srd has a section for the d20 modern cash rules but I'm not familiar with them.

It was left out of the SRD on purpose. I had a thread where it (and a lot of other tables not to be found in the SRD) were in, but it was deleted for WotC doesn't want that info online.

The Modern rules wouldn't help you either, for that system uses a "Wealth Bonus" instead of real cash.

But if you need to know the starting gold of a character of a particular level, don't be afraid to ask. There's usually a kind soul that has access to this information if you need it.

Really? That's annoying. It's not a breach of copyright to discuss rules, even rules that aren't OGL. It might be to post the entire table, but posting a formula which describes the table is definitely legal. Hmm.

The formula for experience necessary to get to the next level is [(current level) * (current level + 1) * 500], or 1000 * [(current level) * (current level +1)/2] if you prefer. That's an obvious one, a summation. There's a formula for the D&D money guidelines, though it's probably more complex since the values were kind of arbitrarily spaced. Are they the same in 3.5 as they are in 3.0? I'll come up with a formula for it once I get home and can look at my DMG.

Which, in fact, was what happened; the thread had just about all the tables that WotC purposely excluded. It was a great and useful thread, but in the interest of being a good neighbor not one we wanted on our boards.

Mmm. I understand. Is anyone going to care if I post such an "expected wealth" formula in this thread?

I'd actually like to see a rule of thumb type formula for character wealth. I hate always having to refer to the book for this info. However, it may be that it doesn't really follow a simple formula either.

Also note, there are seperate tables for PCs vs. NPCs. Not sure if there's an exact ratio between them or not. I just know the NPC one is quite a bit lower.

Unfortunately, there is no regular formula for the gear guidelines (as there is for XP Levels or XP Awards or EL Encounters) -- it's not a smooth curve in any way. Pyrex's estimation above is about as good as you'll get.

Other feasible math formulas I've gathered in a document on my website, here, under "Math Formulas": www.superdan.net/dnd3.html
