Cast from Scroll

Brain fart...

If a 3rd level Cleric casts Cure Light Wounds from a scroll, does it cure 1d8+3 (since he's 3rd level) or 1d8+1 (since the scroll is a 1st level scroll)?

if the scroll was written by a 1st level caster, its 1d8+1. if it was written by a 3rd level caster at Caster level 3 its 1d8+3 (and would cost more)

If that 3rd level caster had chosen the healing domain, I think he could create the scroll as a 4th level caster, (1d8+4), since he is able to cast such spells at 1 plus his caster level. (The scroll would be priced for caster level 4, of course.)

Anyone care to offer a correction?

[Edit... 4th level caster, not 4th level spell. Oops.]

Yes, a tyhird level cleric with the Healing domain can make scrolls of healing spells that are at caster level 4, and they would be the cost of a 4th level caster.

As the others have said, it depends on the caster level of the scroll that was set by its creator, not the level of the spell or the level of the reader. Note, however, that if the caster level of the scroll is higher than the level of the reader, there is a chance for a mishap.
