Casting Animate Object on a Dead Warforged

The really neat thing about this has nothing to do with combat potential, but more to do with utlity:

"Well, he's dead."
"I guess we need to take him back to Sharn to get resurrected, eh? It's gonna be fun... who's going to carry him?"
"Carry? I think we're going to make him WALK."

GENIUS!!

I tip my hat to you sir!!

If animate could work, couldn't an etherial outsider with the appropriate abilities posess the dead warforged?

If you ask me, THAT would be cool. :)

... you know, the ECS has rules for Channeling a good outsider, basically bonding with a celestial and sharing abilities. I never actually considered a warforged as a candidate for that, but this has given me all SORTS of ideas.

The way I interpret the Living Construct allows a 'dead Warforged to be an eligible target for Animate Object.

I see the Creation Forges as artifacts that are able to tie a soul to a prepared physical body, in essense reincarnating into the prepared physical body.

ECS covers the 'Disabled' and 'Dying' ranges, but neglects the 'dead' portion... has there been errata on that?

The ECS also states that the 'Forged can be raised or rez'd. This would mean that a dead warforged is a corpse and thereby eligible to be effected by a number of undead creating abilities..or possession by planar beings. Certain forms they may be immune to... vampirism for instance.

IMHO, animating the corpse works just like animating a staute made of the same material. If the 'Forged had special armor through feat that include physical aspects, as the Mitral Body and Adamantine Armor feats do, the object retains some of those properties.

Given Eberron's history, I would rule that the Warforged are either immune to possession by the denizins of Dal Quor.... or maybe the Dreaming Dark wants us to think they are...

There are some nifty ideas related to this in the Secrets of Xen'drik book. :)

Ok, the warforged is dead. totally. -10 hp.

Can the cleric cast Animate Object on the metal-and-wood carcass of the warforged and make a mindless "golem" akin to an animated human zombie?

If so, does it keep its warforged feats (adamantine body)? etc?

Ideas are appreciated.

Well, I think that clerics should be taken back by warforged: really living golem types. So, he might not in that case, on the other hand, if its setup that clerics dont mind them, then its a no. They are living things in that case, there for they are not just obejects. If however they are machines, like AI, then yes since they only have a man-made created life or intel, and so you'd beable to turn it on, but only to a limited digree. But I dont know warfogred so its just a guess.

I'm am certainly glad you do not sit across the table from my DM screen - I'd have to work too hard to stay ahead of you (and if you knew my group, that is a MIGHTY big compliment).
