Casting in Combat

Exactly when do you have to take damage in a round in order to have to make a Concentration check to avoid losing your spell? SayI roll 19 for my initiative and the bugbear rolls 20. On the bugbear's turn, he attacks me and hits me for 6 points. Do I have to make my check now? Or would he have to delay his action until I cast, then attack, and then I have to make a Concentration check?

During the spellcasting, which can only happen when you cast a spell with a casting time *longer* than a full-round action (i.e. casting time 1 round, as with most summoning spells, because only then you are considered casting outside of your own turn), or with readied actions (or continuous damage, of course). Delay has no effect there, BTW, only Ready has.

The other one Thanee missed is an AoO. Unless you're casting defensively, casting a spell in a threatened area will generally provoke an AoO. If this AoO deals damage, it will also force a Concentration check to avoid losing the spell.
