D&D 5E Casting spell scrolls question

The DMG has rules and a failure chart on what happens when a character tries to cast a spell scroll and is unsuccessful. But I'm not sure where the rules are on determining if you fail at casting a spell scroll in the first place.

I thought it as in the PHB, but I couldn't find it. And it seems like the rule is that if a casting class already knows the spell, he succeeds automatically at casting from the scroll, but if he doesn't, or if he is a non-casting class, then he makes an intelligence (arcane) check with the DC at 10 + the spell's level. But I'm not sure where I'm getting that idea. Any help is appreciated.

If it's in the DMG, I couldn't find it. I either missed it, or they accidentally left it out.

See DMG, page 200, under Spell Scroll. If it is too high a level for you to cast, but on your class' list of allowed spells, you have to make a check on your casting ability vs DC 10+Spell Level in order to actually cast it.
