Casting while paralyzed

For the above Ftr 10:
Will save: +6 (base +3, Item +2, Wis +1)

Hold Person DC: 18 (10 + spl lvl 2 + stat +5 + spell focus +1 + heightened +3)

Wouldn't the DC be 21 in this case?

But anyway, don't forget the initial save to not have the Hold spell affect them at all. So the target gets two saves in the first round.

Basically, in 3.5, a Hold spell means that your spellcaster wastes an action in order to make one of your opponents waste an action. And that doesn't even always work.

Not quite true. My NPC spellcaster wastes an action to kill one of the PCs.

And the calculations above support me in my gusto to play in lower levels :D

Chance to break the hold person:
  • by round 1: 45%
  • by round 2: 70%
  • by round 3: 83%
  • by round 4: 90%
  • by round 5: 95%
  • by round 6: 97%
  • etc.

And if flying, the number of rounds before you splat on the ground is usually 1 or 2. Not so good for a winged 10th level fighter.
