Can someone please describe the setting and fell of the Caslte Falkenstein rpg. I have heard very little about it and am interested in it, although the nearest FLGS is and hour and a half away, and i can't find much on the net about it.

What is magic like? What races are offered? What tech level? How does technology and magic relate?

The system is... weird. Nifty, but weird.

The game is played with cards not dice - no gentleman would play dice! And you get to keep some of the cards for later, choosing in effect when to do well, and when you think you can afford to take one on the chin.

The races are memorable, elfs and dwarfs are the same race, with dwarfs being the mail, and elfs being the female.

Nifty world, but I have to admit not remembering much of the magic system at all.

The Auld Grump, fun game though, and ther is currently a (blecch!) GURPS version.

Redwing, I own the book but I have never really paid enough attention to the rules to be much help in that department.

Think "Prisoner of Zenda" or "Chitty Chitty Bang-Bang" with faery folk and pterodactyl-like dragons. They use a card method rather than dicing for actions. It is very well written but my tastes run more to the mundane and horror side of gaming so it was not overly attractive to me.

If you Like Victorian-inspired games then this is the one to get as very few others exist ( Space: 1899, Age of Empire [which is being re-printed in d20 format], Masque of the Red Death [winner of my "best idea/worst execution" game award which is also seeing a d20 reprint by Arthaus], and Cthulhu by Gaslight [which is out of print and hard to come by])

talk to GMSkarka about the Age of Empire( retitled to "Age of Gaslight") on this board or his website at http://www.adamantentertainment.com/ .

If you like Victorian adventure checkout the book series about my namesake (THANKYOU PIRATECAT!!! you got one of the good pics form the Harper Collins books available in Canada and Great Britain..YOU RULE!)
