Castle Ravenloft Boardgame

My group played it this weekend after the FLGS finally got their poop in a group and honoured a passed-over pre-order(fume ... RAGE ... snort). Although we're staunch 3e players it looked promising and we gave it a shot.

Good game. Some of the rules took a couple of re-reads, but it was just as I'd hoped it would be and that makes me glad.

There is one thing about it though that I can't figure out. A couple of us in the group looked through btoh the rule and adventure books a couple times and couldn't find the answer, so I thought that the hivemind of ENWorld could shed some light: On some of the dungeon tile there appears a skull. Often it is in a wall and sometimes not, but we haven't been able to determine exactly they are for.

Anyone know? Did we just miss something obvious?

I do not have the game, but if the rules do not discuss them then they are probably mood/decoration.

Or instant obliteration of hte players if htey see them on the board.

One or the other. :)

There are two threads about this game in the board games forum.

I think he is right, or will mean something in future expansion sets.

The skull markers mark the tiles as 'crypt' tiles. They're used in some scenarios. One has you place a zombie each time you draw one, frex.

There are quite a few elements in the box that only are used in scenarios; if you don't know what something is for, it'll be in a particular scenario in the adventure book.

e.g. coffins for the final adventure (#13).

Cheers!
