7 books to detail a castle? I expect all the spiders will have names, and the mouse holes exhaustive origin stories. Is this a whole campaign world, or what am I missing here?

Its about 1500 square miles of area. Its a series of books with vast varieties of plot hooks, encounters, ect that interweave.

Those familar with Gary's writing style will know what to expect. :)

Detailed information can be found at the links provided in the first posting.

You're missing the approx. 25 dungeon levels, plus numerous portals to other worlds and dimensions (and this is just the 'edited for public consumption' version -- apparently the dungeons as actually played had over 40 levels).

Something else just occurred to me. Since Castles & Crusades is the base ruleset Gary's using, the length of the books is probably cut about 25% from what it would be using d20 stat blocks, etc.

That's a LOT of information.

Your not kidding mate. I've seen select portions of the text and am about to get deluged with more for layout purposes. Its quite rich in content. :)

Let me get this straight, SEVEN volumes, at $29.95 a pop???

My enthusiasm has been sharply curbed. :(

You will not need *all* volumes to play.

Think of it as a campaign setting. I am sure that there are 7+ FR books out there (priced around 29+ bucks each). What's the difference?
