It was too much of a fluff teaser instead of a true player's guide IMO.

It is a guide to the setting and it does that. I don't see the need for it to be a players handbook verision of the setting. As a Guide I just want to give the players info so they know the setting not so we can play everything in the setting. If they reveal everything in the PG's there is little reason to get the book.

As a Player's Guide it should give you the player info IMO. It gives the mechanics of the variant dwarves and elves, but not for the most featured new race unique to the setting. A player who is interested can make a variant elf. A player who wants to play a poison witch thing can only ask the DM about the specifics. That is disappointing in a player's guide. That was my reaction upon reading it when it first came out.

I think both this and the Ptolus PG would have been better with the inclusion of the race stats instead of holding back on them.

That is so wierd. I tried to link to it but the link takes me elsewhere.

That is just wierd, all my links to DrivethruRPG take me to RPGNow, but my bookmark to that site still works.

ENWorld now breaks links to DrivethruRPG. My Ptolus pbp recruitment thread has the same problem in pointing to the page where you can get the Ptolus Players Guide for free.

So, just get to drivethuRPG on your own. Look up Margret Wies Productions and then find Castlemourn and you can get it there.
