OSR Castles&Crusades Interview

I don't know that system, what other choices were there?
...at the time?..runequest (BRP) and hârn both had signifiant fanbases, not sure of other popular stateside fantasy systems which weren't derived from D+D...of course drakar och demoner was big in sweden but it's a BRP derivative; i think the dark eye developed its own unique system in germany...

"Pull up a chair, grandpa, and tell us about the olden days!"

Well...back in my day, the only way you could find out about TTRPGs other than D&D was by going to a game store or reading Dragon, or White Dwarf, Magazines (which you could only find in games stores). Our knowledge of what was out there was limited. There were TSR games like Boot Hill, Gamma World, Top Secret, and Star Frontiers. There was Traveller, Chill, Rune Quest, Elf Quest, and Call of Cthulhu. MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing). Maybe Paranoia.

Others? Sure, but they weren't readily available, and we just didn't know about them. It's hard to imagine now when I can find about 10,000 TTRPGs with a few taps on my keyboard, but that's the way it was.

Love hearing stories about "the early days"; I was too young to know what was going on at the time.

By "choices" though, I was talking about BRP. You mentioned when your armor was degraded there "choices" to be made. What were they?
