Cat trouble. Need help!

I'm going to have to ask the obvious question here - Is it a problem that your cat is peeing and pooping in the dirt?

Well, I guess it could stink after a while. Why can't you seal it or put cement down? I've never heard of such a home. That's... odd.

If your cat's having trouble using the box, especially if she's pained by it, it may be time for a trip to the vet. This could be a sign of urinary tract infection.
She has no problem using the litter box to take a leak.

Ok. That's a good thing. Cats usually are picky over what kind of litter they want to use.... There's also a pine litter and those crystals too. But it's best to use what the cat prefers or else they'd do it somewhere much less desireable.

My dad buys the litter. He's a cheapskate - he'll buy whatever costs the least amount.

We pretty much cycle through three brands of litter - one of them my cat doesn't mind taking a dump in, but if it isn't on sale its off to the garbage bin with the newspaper for almost every day of the week for that week.

What you do is get multiple bags when it's on sale.

I do that with cat food. Buy the big, 18lb size bags.

Get it another box.

You should always have one more box than your number of cats.

Some cats are particularly fastidious, while many just like variety...

Cover up the dirt with plastic and put two fresh boxes out for him/her.

:)
