I have read history, I don't need to watch humans being inhumane to each other...

Then don't watch it? Seriously, if you have no interest in movies like Saw or Hostel, why would you watch them? Did you not know what you were walking into when you went to see the movie?

Some people enjoy these types of films, and I imagine they are the audience they are made for.

I particularly never liked Faces of Death, but to each his own.

I thought the first Saw movie was okay, the twist ending was neat (granted I have only seen it once). Saw II was much of the same, okay, not good or great. The twist was less interesting (if you could call it a twist). Saw III I did not like, too much of the same, without a twist or anything noteworthy.

I still think the voicetape voice is creepy,"I want to play a game." spoiler
Unfornately I cannot separate his protege, Shawnee Smith's, acting role in Becker to take her character seriously
end spoiler

Who said I watched them? I haven't seen any of the flood of torture porn movies.

I'm just really curious as to why they have become so popular in the past few years...
