D&D 5E CB's Stonefast IC -- COMPLETE

Fulgrim unrolled the parchment slip. Neat rows of dwarven runes were painstakingly hand-printed in very small script. Fulgrim recognized the runes for matins, lauds, prime, terce, sext, none, vespers, and compline. Beside each word was a sum. The slip of paper seemed to be an accounting of some sort.

GM: The general consensus seems to be to next investigate the room furthest west, correct?

OOC: My Google-Fu says those are canonical hours or prayers. Is that correct? Fulgrim suggested they check the furthest west room next, so that's my vote.

Fulgrim performed a quick mental arithmetic to get a final tally of the sums listed on the sheet. He then proceeded to paw through the coins in the pouch, counting them out quickly to see if they added up to match the total on the slip of paper. "By my guess, these are likely tithes to the Church of Clangeddin Silverbeard."

OOC: I may be taking an inappropriate leap of logic here. If possible, Fulgrim will just take a 10 on an Investigation check to hit a DC 14

GM: The bag contains tithes. Probably to a sect of Clangeddin Silverbeard, given the other items co-located in the iron chest. The inventory sums on the slip of parchment indicate that the bag should have 667 silver pieces.

"Church accounting," Guran sighs. "Such boring stuff."

"Alright, are we done with this room?" Guran retrieves his torch from the sconce where he placed it, then heads south halfway down the corridor, stopping before the door set into the middle of the west wall. He checks to see if the door is locked; if it isn't, he waits until the others approach, then opens the door.

Placing any silver in the bag, Father Spec follows.
"It's true, that churches often get bogged down in the day-to-day concerns of such things. For just such a reason, may I commend to you Fharlanghn? Free of tithes and accounting, those of us who follow him enjoy a happy respite from such mercantile reckonings."

"You may certainly commend Fharlanghn to me; and I hope that I may, in turn, be allowed to commend Moradin to you -- for, if I understand aright, Fharlanghn is about freedom and travel, while Moradin is about industry and arms; with Moradin's concerns being, through judicious use, capable of promoting both freedom and travel!"

Guran pauses to reflect a moment; then he adds, "There have been people killed in the past for commending, or even for upholding, alternate forms of worship. I am glad, for my part, that Moradin's worship is spread more through persuasion and example than through killing disbelievers. Yes, we kill orcs and hobgoblins; but that's not done in order to convert them, it's done in order to defend liberty and property from raids and devastation and slavery."

Fulgrim watched the debate between the two with amusement.

OOC: It doesn't bother me, but isn't Fharlanghn an Oerth deity? Although it would totally be awesome if Father Spec was actually from Grayhawk and ended up in the Realms.

The cleric smiles benignly at Guran's claims. "Of course there are many gods that exist, and many more are thought to. I don't claim otherwise. I say only that my knowledge of Fharlanghn is through direct experience: all the power granted to me comes from, or rather through, my belief in Fharlanghn, and that includes my ability to heal. It isn't a matter of exclusivity, only noting from where comes power and direct intervention in our affairs. Hum, hum."

OOC: That's actually a pretty fun idea, FF!. Thanks; I'd be happy to run with that. Based on what he cows so far, though, there's no evidence to him he's shifted universes.
