Celebrity Impressions for NPCs

I don't really do impressions since I would feel like I'm being foolish. Especially if I was trying to do a celebrity impersonation. For some reason I've always found "voices" distracting.

I prefer just giving an NPC some sort of habit or speech pattern. I mostly just talk in my own voice, but I might talk fast, slow, high pitch, low pitch, etc, etc. Nothing really noticeable though where it might stand out as "doing a voice". I'll do a lot of gestures too. Like pretending to smoke a cigar, scratching or twitching, or maybe he sniffles and wipes his nose with his hand a lot.

The oddest one I started doing recently is for a Kenku NPC and I decided that this guy repeats the last word in every sentence. I feel pretty silly doing it, but it works.

I do use the planar cant when PCs are in Sigil. People don't seem to mind DMs using voices, but I hear a lot of people complain about DMs using the planar cant. Which is odd to me since I like the cant but don't like voices.
