Cendriane - need a good map

Quickleaf

Legend
The Feywild book describes Cendriane, an ancient ruined eladrin/elven city swallowed by the forest after a catastrophe wiped out the people.

My PCs may be headed there next session and I was wondering are any good miniature-scale maps / dungeon tiles anyone recommends? Or if not, any cool ideas for manageable DIY projects?

Here are some images I grabbed on the net that are inspirational for a part indoor/part outdoor complex with gnarled roots cracking up flagstones, ivy vining up the walls, and moss blanketing the stairs...

I'd start by looking for maps of Myth Drannor. You might not get anything at the right scale, but there should be some inspirational value to them.

I checked out a couple of the Myth Drannor maps and found several to be inspirational, but nothing fits what I have in mind.
This one from the Pool of Radiance game was the most inspirational...

Inspired by A reader written tutorial on making your own Dungeon Tiles. www. Newbie DM .com and the community at the Cartographer's Guild I decided to make my own dungeon tile set! :D

Wait, how do I do that? :uhoh:

Step 1: Concept

I'm envisioning Cendriane to be way more overgrown than the maps I've seen of Myth Drannor. Crystalline/stone structures would be built right into huge trees, moss would blanket stairs cracked by roots bulging from beneath, root passage-ways would wend thru the ruined walls connecting inside and outside, and land bridges of fallen trees and earth arch over cascading waterfalls.

I might have Cendriane/Myth Drannor in mind for my upcoming games, but I'd like these tiles to be multi-purpose so if I wanted to use them later for an elven ruin I could, or if I wanted a lively eladrin palace I could do that too.

A dungeon tile format makes more sense than a battle map for representing an entire ruined city, allowing for more variations.

I'm going to work on some sketches of dungeon tiles and how they could go together this week and post it later. Wish me luck :)

There's a ruins battlemap in Scepter Tower of Spellguard, which I quite like (I use it for Kiris Dahn in Slaying Stone). One side of the battlemap has a bare tower interior that can be modified for several of Cendriane's towers. In both cases, slap on some Wilderness tiles and you should be good to go.

Thanks Claudio, I'll have to check that map out! Was the adventure any good?

FWIW I've started working on this dungeon tile project over here: Elven Ruins dungeon tile set **work in progress**.

Back to figuring out how to make the moss overlay crisper. Weee...B-)

The LFR adventure "The Great Hunt" I think it is called might have a few decent adventure maps in it for you. It is free and designed as epic tier I think, but I seem to remember liking the maps. Sorry I don't have time to check myself.

I just found it: the adventure is called "Glorious Hunt." They do some awesome maps based on Dungeon Tiles, wow! Are all LFR adventures this gonzo with their maps?

Unfortunately I don't have 3 copies of Sinister Woods, 2 of Arcane Towers, 3 of Arcane Corridors, and 3 Caves of Carnage to recreate what they do :p

EDIT: Here's a sample of my beginning work on the dungeon tile set for the curious:
