A corporation scientist is missing and another one is dead, and a rash of gruesome murders has the already downtrodden and miserable inhabitants of the Scrapyard living in fear.
Just another day in Blacktarn? Perhaps. But Ferrite Metalwürkes wants answers.
Being the skilled professionals that you are, Ferrite has enlisted you to find their scientist. Quietly. And coming as no surprise, they have information to suggest that the Scrapyard might be a good place to being your search…
“Another job in the Scraps,” you think to yourself. “Wonderful.”
Will you have the know-how to find this missing scientist? And what of the recent murders haunting the Scrapyard and its residents? You can accomplish your task, but it’s certainly going to take…Blood and Guts.
Background
Blacktarn is the centerpiece of my gritty homebrew vision; it is also the reason why I created my Grim Tales variant ruleset. Think the Thief video games meets Thieves' World meets Shadowrun meets 1984. It is a place of soot and grime, of ruthlessness and power, of great invention and technology, and of hopelessness and oppression. Skilled and morally-grey individuals operate in Blacktarn, for reasons which are their own or for reasons known only to those to whom they sell their services. If you are so inclined, you can be one the first gamers to step foot on the ash-lined and cobbled streets of the mechatropolis known as Blacktarn.
