Certs for Sam

For those interested, we're in the process of posting information about a charity auction that involves the Adventurers League (along with the Pathfinder Society and Legends of Arcanis OP campaigns).

You can find out more about the charity auction and the first bundle here: http://dndadventurersleague.org/certs-for-sam/

The second (and all future bundles) are/will be posted here: https://www.facebook.com/ColdIronConventions

You can learn more about the convention here: http://coldiron.roseocon.net/index.php

And yes, we are in the process of exploring other ways (phone/internet/pre-bids) in which people might participate but if you just want to donate to this good cause, there is a gofundme set up here: https://www.gofundme.com/uf59m9fw

Greg, the facebook link isn't shared for those not a member of the group - it tells me it's not available.

Cheers!

Just like to congrtulate that the Campaign has done this for a fellow gamer when it didnt have to. Having also been in a bingle with a Car whilst on a pushbike, I can attest to the issues that would cause (Cars more or less ignore bikes on roads).

Any news about remote bidding?

From yesterday's post on the con's FB site:

The Certs for Sam charity auction will occur on Saturday 10/31 at 6:30 PM in the main room of the DCV16 convention (downstairs in the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel, Moorland Room 1-2-3). We will auction off the DnDAL, Pathfinder, and Arcanis certs in addition to some donated items. It is possible this may cause mustering for the evening slot to be slightly delayed if bidding is extensive.
We've had a lot of interest in online or phone bids for the Certs for Sam auction; so many that with our limited convention staff we are worried about the logistics of accepting those bids in a way that is still fair to all those who are traveling to our convention. Given that, here are the details on how we are going to handle the auction. Not all items will be advertised via the internet so some items may only be bid on by those present. There may also be some items (donated books, gaming supplies, etc...) that we may simply sell onsite and we will add to the total raised. Those that are present may bid as normal. Those who cannot attend but would still like to bid on items must do one of two things:
1) Find a proxy: If you are able to find someone to bid for you, we will happily accept their bids as yours. This might be having a friend present or simply calling someone at the convention. Whomever you have bid as your proxy must be able to pay for your purchase at the close of the auction, or you must submit an amount equal to your winning bid to one of the convention staff via Paypal. If you win, we will need contact details so that we can contact you Saturday evening and arrange payment. Once payment is received, your winning item will be mailed to you.
2) Closed bid: If you are not available to call in, or you are not comfortable finding a proxy, you may email the convention staff and tell us what you would like to bid on how high you are willing to go. We will open the closed bids and begin the bidding onsite at $5 higher than second highest bid (so the highest closed bid is winning with $5 higher than the second highest). If anyone present wishes, they may outbid that person. The convention staff will proxy for the highest closed bidder, adding $5 to the winning bid until either the closed bidder wins, or is bid beyond their maximum bid. If you win, we will need contact details so that we can contact you Saturday evening and arrange payment via Paypal. Once payment is received, your winning item will be mailed to you.
If a bidder wins who is not present fails to transfer funds or pay via proxy for their purchase by the close of the convention at midnight (Central Time), we will offer the item to the second highest bidder.
Again, thank everyone who has expressed an interest in donating to the charity. Rick Brill was a good friend to many in the gaming community and we want to do everything we can to help his family.
