Challenge! An entire campaign of classic modules

Ohhh.. yeah. Our OD&D campaign has twisted together at least a dozen old school adventures as core and nearly all the rest as potential. Nothing is "as published", so all the old-timers get to play "Spot the Adventure Hook" as we go along.

So far four are done (but in no way completed). B1 & B2 can be read in the storyhour in my sig. I couldn't rightly tell you how many others have meshed in from the sides though. Plenty of old Dragon and Dungeon Magazine mods too. (plus homebrew)

EDIT: And the order is pretty much up to the players. We're literally surrounded by adventure. It's a little daunting at times.

U1 - Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh
U2 - Danger at Dunwater
U3 - Final Enemy

During those three make allusions to the Pirates of the Yellow Sails. Important that the PCs gain a ship for the continuation of the campaign. The Sea Ghost fits that nicely.

X1 - Isle of Dread - Combined with I1 - Dwellers of the forbidden city. Place the Forbidden City within the Isle of Dread. The plateau is a good a place as any.

Return from the Isle and confront the Slavers.
A1 - Slave Pits of the Undercity
A2 - Secret of the Slavers Stockade
A3 - Assault on the Aerie of the Slave Lords
A4 - In the Dungeons of the Slave Lords

Get totally bent. I'd actually combine two more adventures together.
N1 - Against the Cult of the Reptile God
WG4 - Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun

You've finished off the Slavers let's go take on some Giants.
G1 - Steading of the Hill Giant Chief
G2 - Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl
G3 - Hall of the Fire Giant King

Logical progression to the drow.
D1 - Descent into the Depths
D2 - Shrine of the Kuo-Toa
D3 - Vault of the Drow

I don't particularly like Q1 but you can cap off the campaign with it.
My "classics" campaign is very similar. Basically, I'm going Saltmarsh--Slavers--Ravenloft--Giants--Descent--Demonweb

And I'd love to add I6- Ravenloft to the storyline somewhere. Maybe before the Giants Series.

That's my plan....a quick trip through the mists to Ravenloft and then a small adventure to find a way back home.

But they're still on Slavers right now, so that's a while away. And I might have to add some stuff between mods if I feel the characters are not high enough level.

Great minds think alike...

I converted Ravenloft when 3.0 came out in 2000. It is more of a spirit of the rules conversion, and it is a killer. I used Strahd as presented in the "I, Strahd" novel by P.N. Elrod. Let's just say it is pretty nasty. We play through it about once every two years as a "Halloween" project. Only two players have survived. The players love it so I'm not too worried about it. I would not spring this one on the regular characters.

I have sort of done this before, although I included a few Dungeon modules (3.0) here and there. The classic modules I used:

Keep on the Borderlands (got from 1st-9th)
Rahasia
Expedition to the Barrier Peaks
Steading of the Hill Giant Chief (didn't use the other two)
Tomb of Horrors

I would run through the Grand Conjunction series and Ravenloft/House on Gryphon Hill (running them simultaneously as suggested in I10), and fixing up the RA series a tad so there isn't as much railroading at the end. I would also want to go through the Giants series of modules, and maybe a trip through Dungeonland at the tail end. I don't know how I would get the PCs to the Giants series, but I would also probably tweak the map and monsters of B3 Palace of the Silver Princess so there was some sanity...now I just need some filler between journeys to Ravenloft...I suppose I would use the Random Encounters and Vicious Venues...maybe those 2e map adventures. I'd find something.

Toee Spoilers

Current Campaign:
Spoilers for TOEE

CY 573
Start the PCs as minor nobility at Castle Hart (Castles supplement) - meet Prince Thrommel and Lareth
Up to Keep on the Borderlands - become noticed by the Hierarchs (Horned Society)
then Baltron's Beacon (they meet Leptor/Falrinth and evidence of the Black Flame Cult)
then Thrommel disappears and the party does A1-A4 to see if the slavers have Thrommel
party relaxes for a few years with the wealth from the Slavers
Lareth turns up at the moathouse in Hommlet party begins TOEE looking for Thrommel.

Evidence at ToEE and Leptor/Falrinth presense lead to Tomb of Horrors where the Orb of Golden Death is stashed (Acerarak being a member of the Black Flame Cult - Moilians).

After recovering Orb, re-enter ToEE nodes and complete ToEE somewhere around epic level.

Alternate plot was Hierarchs using them to explore Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun and Lost Caverns of Tsjocanth. Possibly freeing Tharizdun.

The epic campaign+ might involve a souped up Fire Giants/Descent/Vault of the Drow

Which all together is a set up for running RttToEE, RttToH and other return modules some day as a separate campaign closer to current GH timeline.

My dream campaign has always been...

Young adventurers head out to the border in search of fame and fortune.

B2 Keep on the Borderland - notes in the Shrine lead the party to...
T1-4 Temple of Elemental Evil - the servants of Iuz lead them to...
S4 Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth - the gnomes in the valley lead them to...
WG4 Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun

break in the action

Geoff is overrun by Giants, a desperate plea for help is sent to the heroes who destroyed the Temple of Elemental Evil and recovered the evil artifact from Tsojcanth...
G1-2-3 Against the Giants
D1-2 Descent into the Depths
D3 Vault of the Drow

break in the action

Way back when, the pc's sacked a shrine in the Temple of Evil Chaos. That shrine belonged to a lich named Acererak. To get revenge, the lich sends the party through an extradimensional wormhole, leading to...
EX1 Dungeonland
EX2 The Land Beyond the Magic Mirror

The party decides to get revenge on Acererak and seeks out his tomb...
S1 Tomb of Horror

The end.

R.A.

Already doing it...very similar to some of the others. We are currently on G2 and I am ready to whack all of them with a TPK (White Dragon) unless they come up with something unexpected on me.

Started in...
B2 which led to an archeological dig in...
T1-4 which resulted in a bad teleport to...
B4 where they finally get out and head to Darokin. There they took a mission from the DDC to...
G1, 2 and 3
D1, D2, and D3
Q1
X4 and X5

I figure that should get them to 20th level at least.
