Champion Character Concept

So I have a new campaign starting soon-ish, and I'm trying to come up with a cool character concept.

I want to play Rich Burlew's champion class- found at the link below.

The campaign will be set in Eberron, and we're starting in Sharn. Basic 3.5 ruleset, with a few minor houserules. That's all I know.

What I'm looking for is a unique kind of character- a semi-good guy who simply happened to do the wrong good deed, at the wrong time, in the wrong place- and now is infused with a Lawful Good celestial whose mission is to right all wrongs, or slay all evil doers, or something.

Or maybe- this Lawful good ansector is linked to my bloodline somehow, and choose me for some reason.

Or maybe... I don't know- I kind of like the idea of a mousy kind of librarian type dragged along for the ride of this celestial- but I'm by no means super-attached to it.
I'm just looking for a fun roleplaying opportunity in this, so I though I'd ask my fellow ENworlders for some advice!

Sounds like a lot of fun. Can you do voices at the table? Having conversations with yourself, or having party conversations in which both "you" and "the angel" get in on the dicsussion might be fun.

To complete the sitcom-y nature of this idea, you'd want to have both personalities have strong ideas about "good" behavior that contradict one another... the simplest being to give them a lawful / chaotic split. If it were me, I'd make the celestial the chaotic one, and the librarian the one trying to reign him in.

Back in college I played an Abberant character who could change his form into that of a superhero. The mousy little convenience store attendant could control when he turned and had full access to the memories of his superhero form, but the hero (named Hero) had no idea he was an alternate identity and so had no access to the information pertinant to his current mission. His normal form would leave him post-it notes on whatever surface he was facing that would get him up to speed. He just kind of assumed existance was pretty much just one adventure after another with no conective life in between. It was a lot of fun.

For a more He-man-y champion I would play it that only the body was different, that the two forms shared the same mind (and were essentially the same person), though the hero form might be stupider or smarter than his base form. The fun could come from trying to hide the secret from your compatriots and enemies (especially your enemies).

I'd be more interested in Rich's class if the base class was a tad weeker and the avatar form was a smidge more powerful. Maybe something as simple as wizard BAB for the base and all good saves and full plate proficiency for the avatar (maybe with some armor that pops in with the form). A hybrid of his class and the archivist from heroes of horror might be interesting, too.

I was leaning toward the normal character being the chaotic one, and the celestial lawful... but you're right- the other way might be a lot more fun. Thanks for the input, anyone else have thoughts/ideas?

Did you ever read comic books? There are lots of superheroes with similar attributes.

Bruce Banner/The Hulk

Rick Jones/Captain Mar-vel

Billy Batson/Captain Marvel

Aleta and Stakar/Starhawk

Ronald Raymond and Martin Stein/Firestorm

Jason Blood/Etrigan The Demon

And many more just in Marvel & DC. I'm sure there are others out there as well.

Heck...there's even Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde, or any Lycanthrope!

There is a lot of potential here, depending upon how you frame it.
