Change in WotC pricing structure?

First Post
I was just looking at Australian pre-order prices and realised that the 4e PHB is A$40.00, while Keep on the Shadowfell and Thunderspire Labyrinth are each A$50.00!

Is this reflected in other countries or is it something unique to Oz?

Who is this through? Those module prices seem very high.
I too am from Oz and have only seen Milsims prices for the core books. $40 a pop from mem with 5% discount on preorder.
Still sucks we pay so much for books over here, when the Oz $ matches US dollar :( I have been buying from US lately, but will probably go with local order purely b/c I don't wish to wait for 4e books.

This may not be the case after initial release if I continue to see books sell at 1/2 the price we pay here. Very frustrating.

Where's this? The PHB seems right at $5 more, assuming that's the RRP, not a discount (actually, that's suspiciously low, usually we get boned by such things), but I don't know why keep on the shadowfell would be the expensive, it's only supposed to be $30 US.

Worst comes to worst, remember you can always order from Amazon. They usually charge a lower price than local shops, even after taking into account delivery costs. My experience with them has been that delivery is very reliable and only takes about 2 weeks to reach a Sydney address (you can tack on 1-2 days to Coffs Harbour, I guess).

Of course, being WotC's bitch that I am, even 1-2 weeks is too much, so I'll probably be preordering from a local shop.

My only data point is the Tin Soldier web shop. Games Paradise, the other FLGS in Sydney that I know of doesn't have KotS on their webshop. I was concerned that WotC might have decided to take a hit on the price of the core rules with the aim to make up the difference on the DDI and the printed adventures. Which (as a player in a group that plans to run all of the printed adventures as a campaign on DDI) was causing me some concern. :)

Anyone else able to comment?

Edit: Hmm, now that I check Amazon, I see that the PHB is RRP $10 more expensive than KotS. Maybe it's just an Australian quirk. However, even going via Amazon the price ratio between Core Books and Adventures seems a little low (ie. closer to 1:1 than 3e's 2:1 or 3:1).

If I was going to get the books, I'd probably preorder all three @ $114 (+ $5.50 shipping) from Milsims. $40 seems OK to me.

I tend to buy online most of the time. It works out better, plus I don't like the person who runs the FLGS. So they don't get my money.

Hmm. Milsims has KotS listed as $28.00. What gives? That difference is too big to be correct...

I'll probably be popping in to Tin Soldier tomorrow lunchtime. Will report back after checking their prices.

$72.79 USD (~$78 AUD) from Amazon, including international shipping for the three core book set (with slipcase).

Why shop anywhere else?

From what I have been told, the full set (all 3 books) will cost around $250 in our stores.

I am seriously considering using amazon, although I still believe very strongly in supporting our gaming shops.
