Changeling Factotum / Chameleon

Yes, that's right. I have a player who's thinking about playing a Changeling (Eberron) Factotum (Dungeonscape) / Chameleon (Races of Destiny).

Any comments or suggestions on maximizing this character's utility are welcome.

Hmmm. Looks like the shortest path to Chameleon is just Factotum5, which means he'll be a 7th level Chameleon. Access to a few 5th level spells as either a cleric or a wizard, and two spell-like abilities of up to 2nd level from his Factotum levels.

I just noticed that if you use the Double Focus ability from the Chameleon at that level, you're using both of your class emulation choices for that day. That's kind of unfortunate. Still, he'd be able to walk around all day with any two of the focuses, which is a fairly powerful ability.

Looking at the class description, it's not terribly clear if you get full spells for both wizard and cleric progression if you take those two foci. Do you have to mix and match your number of spells per day, or do you get full progression for both? Something to consider.

I don't have Dungeonscape, so I can't really back this up, but I remember hearing that the Factotum was not a great choice for multi-classing -- unlike Rogue, for example.

Cheers, -- N

Funny, one of my players wants to do exactly the same. Well, either this or some half-elf monstrosity with levels in about ten different classes culminating in a Fochlucan Lyrist... *shudder*
