The Edinburgh Fringe Festival has been long renowned as one of the greatest celebrations of arts and culture on the planet, presenting an astoundingly diverse array of theatrical events, comedy shows, musical performances, and more. And this year Call of Cthulhu is coming to the Fringe!

In collaboration with the National Library of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh's History and Games Lab, Chaosium is presenting Call of Cthulhu - Live in the Library on August 23rd and 24th.

The three hour actual play show features Call of Cthulhu creative director Mike Mason as Keeper of Arcane lore. Mike is crafting a 1920's Mythos scenario set in Edinburgh's Garrick Theatre for the brave Investigators, who are led by French-Scottish actor Josephine McAdam. Josephine was seen recently in Chaosium's blockbuster Call of Cthulhu actual play series Graveyards of Arkham. The other cast members will be revealed in coming weeks!

"Actual play – playing a tabletop roleplaying game live on stage – is a highly entertaining art form that in recent years has reached out from gaming fandom into a wider audience – and we're excited to be bringing it with Call of Cthulhu to the biggest arts festival in the world", said Chaosium's Michael O'Brien, the show's producer.

We welcome Liv Kennedy (Three Black Halflings Podcast), Jasper Cartwright (12 Sided Studios, Three Black Halflings, Dimension 20), and Katie Morrison (High Rollers). Together with Josephine, they'll be uncovering Mike Mason's mythos mystery that takes place inside Edinburgh's Garrick Theatre in 1921.

Call of Cthulhu - Live in the Library at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is brought to you by Chaosium in partnership with National Library of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh's History and Games Lab.

"Bringing the medium off the screen and onto the stage at one of the most famous cultural festivals in the world feels like a logical way to introduce actual play to new audiences who are already open to experiencing experimental art forms."

Mike Mason and Josephine McAdam talk to Rascal News about our upcoming Call of Cthulhu actual play show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The team has assembled in Edinburgh, ready to go Live in the Library with our sell-out shows tomorrow and Saturday. We're excited to be bringing Call of Cthulhu to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

On June 4th 1921 Edinburgh's Garrick Theatre was destroyed by fire... yeah, it's probably not a coincidence this is the very date our Call of Cthulhu show takes place on. Our first Live in the Library show at the Edinburgh Fringe is underway, with our investigators looking for missing parrot backstage...

Call of Cthulhu is of course the roleplaying game where librarians are the heroes - and today we're playing it Live in the Library, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

And that's a wrap: we had an absolute blast bringing Call of Cthulhu actual play to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time – and our friends at the National Library of Scotland are super keen to have us back next year!

Grateful thanks to the team at the National Library of Scotland and University of Edinburgh's History & Games Lab, to the amazing cast (Jasper, Josephine, Liv, and Katie) and our superlative Keeper (Mike), and to all the Fringe attendees who came to watch our shows! — MOB, Chaosium Inc.
