Pentecost was always an important day in the court of King Arthur: he was crowned at Pentecost, married Gwenever at Pentecost, and the vision of the Holy Grail first appeared on the eve of Pentecost. The Pentecostal Tournament and Feast was the highlight of the year at Camelot, and Arthur would not take meat until a miraculous event had occurred, or he had been told of some wonder. Adventures always seemed to start at Pentecost.

In other words, Pentecost is a great time to play a game of Pendragon!

This year Pentecost falls on Sunday 8 June. We invited our Companions of Arthur community content authors to write new Pendragon adventures for Pentecost, and they have responded with 5 splendid new works involving mysterious knights, fearsome beasts, painful redemption, heartfelt love and cataclysmic revenge. One of the adventures offers a first Roll20 version, the first available as part of the program.

Here they are:

The Love and Labours of Sir Cauline
Iain Nisbet ($5.99, PDF)

The tale begins at Pentecost and finds Sir Cauline quite overcome at the sight of his beloved - so much so that he has gone for a bit of a lie down. Meanwhile, the festivities of the day continue. Will Sir Cauline be missed at the Pentecost feast? And how can he prove himself worthy of his Lady? An adventure for 1 to 4 players. One player will take the role of Sir Cauline, the others will play his faithful squire; his household knight and bodyguard; and a former knight, who has taken holy vows and become a friar.

Feast of the Forest
Jason Lee & David Waldron ($4.99, PDF)

In the mist-choked fens of East Anglia, five fallen knights—once loyal defenders of Britain, now brigands in the service of Saxon warlords—terrorize the countryside. Their raid on a tithe wagon provokes more than the wrath of the Church. It stirs something ancient, something buried deep in the bog… something that should have remained undisturbed. Set during the Anarchy Period of 496–510 AD, Feast of the Forest is a folklore-infused tale of guilt, fate, and supernatural horror, steeped in the legends of post-Roman Britain.

Sir Balin: A Most Virtuous Knight
Thomas Boulton ($3.99, PDF)

Sir Balin le Sauvage is named by both Arthur and Merlin as the greatest knight who did not sit at the Round Table. He is also rash, vengeful, and arrogant. His actions are difficult to understand. He is responsible for wounding the Fisher King, the death of his brother Balan, and, of course, the slaying of Nineve, the Lady of the Lake, who gave Excalibur to Arthur. This adventure provides context for these events and moves the Player-knights from being mere observers to active participants in one of the greatest and most confusing events of Arthur’s early reign.

The Adventure of the Phantom Bell
J. Lambert ($2.99, PDF / $2.99, VTT Roll20)

People are going missing in the nearby village of Greenway and it's up to the Player-knights to figure out what is going on and stop the disappearances! Enjoy this introductory adventure to the world of Pendragon, which includes optional sections for extra roleplaying goodness, 5 NPCs with roleplaying hooks, and one hell of a beast to be used in this and future adventures. Also available as Roll20 and in a Roll20 and PDF bundle.

The Adventure of the Thunder Knight
Pedro Ecija Serrano ($1.50, PDF)

Saxon sails are spotted down the coast. The Player-knights are on an urgent mission to warn their liege, but their way is blocked by a knight who insists on challenging everyone to friendly combat. Also, nearby locals claim to have seen a ghost demanding revenge for his murder. May the two events be related? This short adventure has multiple hooks to add it to your own campaign, and two special battle events which can be used for other battles against Saxons.
