Character creater for RPG D&D, PFRPG

First Post
I was wondering if people could let me know their thoughts on having a character creator for rpg's mainly D&D 4ed, 3.5 and PFRPG.

It would include races and equipment and like a dress up style graphic for the character so you can see what he or she would look like. The other point to it would be to come up with background stories for said characters to enable online role-play. I have heard of a couple of websites doing online D&D sessions that DM's require a back story of your character.

I am asking opinions from anyone, all will be taken seriously and hopefully responded to. When i start building the charcter creator i will post a link to it's location if people are interested in testing but that is yet to come.

Thankyou for any participation.

Thanks

Thank you very much for the link i have used an example of that software before, though it isn't very customizable i.e creating a race or giving you interchangeable graphics dependent on what you want.

Does this seem intrigueing or am i the only one?

Again, thank you very much. :)

Hero Lab's very customizable; however, you have to figure out how to use the editor to get it to do what you want. It's not necessarily a quick and easy thing (though very often you can fake it fairly easily, thanks to the Adjust tab).

As for the OP's question -- I know of no character creator for any (table-top) RPG that includes a "a dress up style graphic" element. Hero Lab and others allow you to import pics you get or generate elsewhere and attach them to your character, but I don't know of anything outside of an MMO that lets you generate looks inside the software.

Reasons for simplicity

What i propose to do would be held within a Flash file and have a simple GUI.

My reasons to take on simplicity is because i am dyslexic and i know there are a lot of dyslexics out there. The character graphic is a little idea as i like to draw all my characters and it would be interesting to see what reception a free program like this would have.

Thank you for your posts :)

4E builder

Thanks for the doll maker link it will come in handy i want to do one more specific and includes the races like elves and orcs, as well as maybe designing your own.

The 4E builder i have used myself and i found it rather confusing and pushy. Some of the pictures for certain races i.e shifter was annoying as there were none i had to use the picture in the book or a picture of a ranger (as that was my class).

Theoretically the character would start with a nude model then you build up from there. Start with clothing, armor and move onto equipment that would be on your character and show that in the end picture if you want.

Than you for the reply :)

I'd be interested in something like this. It somewhat reminds me of the old "paper doll" concept implemented in Ultima Online.
