Character creation rules

Hi folks,
I posted something about my game world in the general forum, but I thought I'd ask about the character creation rules here.

It is the 2nd and 3rd pages here: http://www.eecs.umich.edu/~brehob/Game/RubyRules.pdf

The basic theme is that you get to chose one of 24 stat-blocks and may swap any two stats. The (more) wacky part is that some stat blocks are better than others. The poorer ones give you some points with which you can buy things (like feats).

Thoughts? Is the balance right? Anyone want to try to build an "obviously broken" character?

Thanks!

Interesting. Recently I have been considering a priority based character creating system (a la Shadowrun), with (apparently) sililar aims to what you have here.

Have you checked all the combinations for AP-purchased powerful race and statblock for 'gimmes'?

No, but I did try to find anything really crazy. Some PrCs get very easy to enter, but I haven't seen one that worries me that is purely skill or feat limited.

I really do think _something_ like this is really the way to go. It allows for low-level characters to me different on more than just stats, and give some interesting flexiblity as you move up. (PrC enterance requirements etc.)
