Character Generator

My group used Steve's Character generator with all our characters. I have heard on some threads that Steve is working on another one updated to 3.5, will that be available to all of us?. Is there any other Character generator out there that anyone would recommend? I had one of my players try PC Gen, but i found he cheated with it alot. Steve's sheet it was harder with all the validations to it. Thanks for the help.

I guess you can really cheat with any program,,, so i guess its not fair to say that. I guess im really partial to Steve's sheet. Is PC Gen really that good?, and does it support 3.5 and have all the books in it?
Easy to use? All that good stuff?

Hmmm...my reply seems to not have taken, let me try again.

I like PCGen, but I'm quite biased on that. There are Lst (data) Monkeys now working on the RSRD, and they're looking at a mid-October release (the data files have to be written up, any code changes necessary made and then run through QA).

Now, what do you mean by all the books? The WotC material? If that, the only WotC material that PCGen has rights to are the SRD, RSRD and MSRD, as they have been released via the OGL. Code Monkey Publishing has gained a license from WotC to create PCGen data sets of their closed content material. These data sets come with a cost. You can see what the various packs will cost at their store.

Now, if you mean by non-WotC d20 material, that is being added to PCGen. CMP has reached agreements with some d20 publishers to sell PCGen data sets. However, PCGen is working with publishers to acquire permission from them to include their data sets with the PCGen distribution downloads.

Yes it does thank you. I was hoping that PC GEN would support ALL of the WOTC books, even if i had to buy the data packs for them. That way our players could utilize the program to the same or more ability compared to what we use now (Steve's character generator). Thanks for the insite.

I'm not sure if I'm mis-intepreting the above... but CMP will be providing data sets for sale for _all_ of the WoTC books .

Perhaps a bit late, but you can also check out Campaign Suite for your character generation needs. For random PCs/NPCs, I believe we have the functionality you may need.

There are some data sets now at WotC for approval. I'm not sure which ones though.

I downloaded it and tried it. It looks very good, but i have a few questions. What about versatility to be able to put in magic items,, like a +3 Sonic Greatsword? Also, what about the 3.5 upgrades and the other books, like S&F, DOTF, S&S and so on. What about Savage Species. If i can get all of those,,, i would definately buy it.
Thanks. I guess to answer my own question,, and show my ignorance on the same line,,,,,,, the OGL only allows the 3 core books correct. So if this is the case,, will Campaign Suite ever have ability to use the other wizards books mentioned?
