Characters for Mr. Beef's Fiction (Update for 12/29/06)

Hi everybody!

Mr. Beef here, and I have decided to put up the stats for one of the charcaters in my Dungeons and Dragons stories that I am writing. I'm using a made up setting thought up by me, and I'm in the process of getting things together like races, classes, PrC's and other important things that readers would like to know.

I use races from the PHB and Eberron (only the Warforged). Some races will be limited to what classes they can take. For example, the Warforged, being constructs will only be able to take Class Levels in Artificer, Fighter, Monk, Rogue, Scout (Comp. Adv.), and Wizard. Other races like humans, for example, can take any class they want as along as it is not on a list of prohibited classes. [That will be another post.]

Here's an example of a character I made up for the story:

Take a look at at him and tell me what you think. Is there anything I need to change stat or attack wise? This is my first 3.5 character with a magic weapon(s) and I'm not really sure if the pluses, like the +3 total magic bonus for the heavy crossbow, stack with the damage and attack modifiers of the abilities. I'm asking that because I purchased it with DMG 3.5 rules and am not sure if I'm using the rules right or not.

Also, I'm looking to spend about another 6,000 gp on a magic item to add to either more Wisdom or Dexterity to the character.

I'm taking a sort of Firefly approach to the story and characters, but using D&D 3.5 races and classes. I'm having trouble making up three of the characters. One's like Kaylee, Inara, and Wash. I'm thinking Inara might be a Bard, since there's no class for Campanion. Kaylee I'm not sure about, and Wash could be someone with a maxed out Animal Handling skill to drive the horses that pull their transport.

My next character will be later today or tomarrow morning so look for more then.

Okay it was 2 days.

Here's the second character in my story hour.

She's a Wizard I was going to make into a Wizard 4/Sorcerer 2/Ultimate Magus 4. I decided against that when I saw that the most spell levels I was going to get at level 10 were Level 3 Wizard and Level 2 Sorcerer with 4 levels of the Ultimate Magus PrC.

I'll reveal some about her backstory in due time.

EDIT: She needs two more languages, anybody have any ideas for languages? The world they are in has all of the Player's Handbook races in it except Gnomes.

Character #3

I got the idea for using the Archivist Class from the WotC web site when they did an article about it. The class is from Heroes of Horror, and while my story is not a horror story, I've always wanted to have a character with Divine Magic and be like a Wizard. He's going to be more of a missionary than a holy warrior like the Cleric.

Two Updates in one day. It's a miracle!

Xuxa is simply my answer to the character of Inara on Firefly. The Profession (Companion) skill means she gets paid to hang off of some wealthy man's arm for a night while reciting poetry among his friends and telling stories of the history of the land she's in. She also acts as a information gatherer and information broker for the group with the Bardic Knowledge ability.

I tried to give him more flavor than just being a close combat monkey with the Knowledge skills. He was by far the toughest to pick feats for because I wanted him to be the leader of the group and take the leadership feat.

Uhm....so you decided not to take the class because you would have only had the casting equivalent of a 6th level Wizard and a 4th level Sorceror? They key to the class is continuing the UM progression....Eventually your two class levels will be equal, and at 16th level You would be an 11th level mage, 12th level Sorceror....
