Characters with attribute penalties

I normally insist on my PCs having at least one negative stat for personality reasons i.e. "no one is perfect".

My wizard character had no negative stat modifiers - and no modifiers of 0, for that matter. He didn't subscribe to the "no one is perfect" theory, obviously; he was arrogant beyond belief.

I played a half-orc barbarain with an Int 6 but a Cha 14. Fun guy, but not too smart. He used to have staring contests with statues and chase the monk's squirrel while gleefully laughing.

Fun dude.

...thus (inadvertently? deliberately?) demonstrating the truth of the assertion. ;)

We recently rolled up characters to play in a series of one-off games. My rogue has good stats, all between 12-16 except for an 8 Cha. I play her as being slightly shy and easily bullied by the other party members. She's easier to roleplay than my kicka** cleric converted from 2e, whose worst stat is 13.

I once played a 10'th lvl 1/2orc barbarian for a session that had massive strength and con, but had about 6 int and wis. We were stuck in front of a door with a wierd gas that happened to start killing us whenever we approached it. While the paladin and sorceror were trying to open the door, I proceeded to play "catch and throw the sheep" in the fields outside.

I think we finally got through the door through a rather silly measure.."Me bash door!" and a lucky con save from the paladin and I ;)

Oh, and I also used an oxen as a mount :)

Hmm... in the two campaigns I run, there are two characters with scores of 7. You must understand that this campaign uses 5d6 take highest three to generate scores, so 7 is _low_.

OTOH, very few 18s or higher except for the high-level characters that have bought gear and spent their increases.

The one character that _did_ have two 18s died permanently in his first session. :)

I don't get to play much, but back when I did in the last days of 1E, I played a gnome illusionist with a 5 Wisdom.

Theodones was great fun to play, especially when he became besotted with the female elf who had a Comeliness of 22 or so. It irritated the elf's player even more, which of course made it even better! :D

Cheers!
