D&D 5E Charge

If I was to wager a nickel, the fact that Charge isn't a regular action makes me guess that if it does appear in the game... it's going to appear as one of the Fighter's Battlemaster subclass maneuver options. So the trained warriors can move and then charge into battle (Dash + attack) ... everyone else can only move and then make a regular attack.

Or 2nd level rogues with Cunning action.

Charger would seem to be the feat in question.

Here's the interaction I had with Mike on twitter:

Me: G'day,Mike! Are we going to be able to charge into combat in the full rules? Curious why it isn't in Basic

Obsidian Crane: most likely only as a feat as in play test. I'm ok with that in truth.

Mike Mearls: yeah - the 3e and 4e rules made charging worth a separate rule. Oppy atk and move rules make it easy to spam charge

Cheers!

Which is still in the list of feats just published.

If it's only 10' of movement it will be pretty useless in TotM where distances all tend to get blurrred. I guess it might have some bonus too (or you can gotcha! DMs who say enemies are just out of move range.)
