Submission Letter Package
Dear Publisher,A rogue, a ranger, and a rising darkness — this is the tale I wish to share with you.
[ ] I am submitting my original fantasy story, The Wicked Witch of the White Forest, for your consideration.
[ ]
This tale begins in the Crook’s Fane, a raucous tavern where rogues, wanderers, and drunkards cross paths, never knowing how their fates may intertwine. Among them is Salora, a cunning foxkin rogue with a silver tongue and her loyal baby dragon, and Darius, a hardened human ranger and monster hunter who despises animals yet finds himself reluctantly bound to her.
When they encounter a mysterious traveler carrying dire news — the Wicked Witch has broken her ancient wards and begun raising an undead army in the White Forest — the two are drawn into a mission far larger than coin or survival. Together, they must decide whether to fight or flee — or rise as unlikely heroes against the spreading darkness.
Enclosed you will find:
• A short synopsis (1 page)
• An introduction to the world and characters (1 page)
• A sample chapter (Crook’s Fane tavern scene, 6–8 pages)
This sample is intended to showcase the tone, characters, and setting of the story. I would be delighted to provide additional chapters or a full manuscript upon request.
It is also my vision to expand this into a D&D-inspired anime saga
— an open-ended world where new stories, characters, and adventures can continue without end. This isn’t a one-and-done tale, but the start of a living saga with clear franchise potential.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your feedback and the possibility of working together.
Sincerely,
Todd Boderick

Sample Chapter: The Crook’s Fane
This story begins in the Crook’s Fane, a raucous tavern where laughter and danger sit shoulder-to-shoulder. The smell of spilled ale and roasted boar mingles with pipe smoke. Dice rattle across worn tables, and a bard strums a lute badly out of tune.
At a shadowed corner table sits Salora, a foxkin rogue. Her reddish-brown ears twitch to every whisper, her silver tongue sharper than most blades. At her feet, a baby dragon curls protectively, scales glimmering faintly in the lantern light.
The tavern door creaks open, and Darius steps in — a hardened human ranger, his cloak damp from the road, his eyes scanning the crowd like a predator. He despises the noise, despises the smell, and more than anything, despises the little dragon purring at Salora’s boots. Animals. Always animals.
Their eyes meet, and fate quietly knots their paths together.
The tension is broken when a portly man with a sweat-stained tunic stumbles into their table, nearly knocking over their drinks. Darius’s hand instantly goes to his blade, steel flashing as he rises with a scowl.
But the man throws up trembling hands, stammering apologies. “Please — no harm! I only bring word… word of death.” His voice quivers.
Salora narrows her eyes, tail flicking. “Word of death? In a tavern full of killers and cutthroats, you’ll need to be more specific.”
The man lowers his voice. “The Wicked Witch… she has awoken. Her wards are shattered. In the depths of the White Forest, she stirs her undead armies again.”
A hush falls over the nearby tables. Even the bard stops strumming.
Darius’s blade remains raised, his distrust written in every line of his body. But at Salora’s urging glance — and the soft smoke puff from her dragon — he reluctantly lowers his sword, sliding it back into its sheath. His face burns with embarrassment.
“My apologies,” he mutters stiffly to the fat man. Straightening, he clears his throat. “I am Darius. This foxkin is Salora. If what you say is true… then tell us how we can help. Where is this Witch hiding?”
The man exhales with relief, dabbing sweat from his brow. “She is rooted in the White Forest, a cursed place few dare enter. If she is not stopped, her plague of the dead will sweep beyond the forest, and no kingdom will stand against it.”
Salora leans back, smirking. “So. Certain doom. That explains why you’re shaking like a leaf.”
The man nods gravely. “I cannot pay you what the crown would. But I can give you coin up front, enough to equip yourselves. If you succeed, you will be rewarded greater still when the kingdoms learn of your deeds. I ask only this: go, find her, and end her blight.”
He slides a heavy purse across the table. The clink of gold rings out, drawing envious stares from the other patrons.
Darius looks at Salora. Salora looks at Darius. For the first time, perhaps, they share a spark of agreement.
She tucks the purse away with a grin. “We’ll take the job.”
The fat man bows gratefully. “Then may the gods protect you. The White Forest awaits.”
And so, with coin in their pockets and the weight of destiny pressing on their shoulders, the rogue and the ranger step into the night — their first steps on a journey that will lead them to allies, enemies, and the heart of a darkness older than kingdoms.
[ ] MY VISION:It is to create and expand this into a D&D-inspired anime saga — an open-ended world where new stories, characters, and adventures can continue without end.
