D&D General Chef feat should be an origin feat

+6 or 9 spell DC or 2d6 per attack?
It’s absurd to attribute that to the feat in question. It gives you a discount on magic items (if your dm even lets you buy them) and lets you make mundane stuff, via tool proficiency. That’s it. It’s not adding any significant ability or bonus to the character.

You’re better off just using your Bastion for magic item crafting. If the dm allows buying and crafting magic items, it’s gonna be available just like the feat, and doesn’t have vastly stronger options that it is being taken in place of.

They dropped the ball with crafter.

If fast crafting was really fast crafting (like MacGyver) then it would be really cool.
It needs to be a short rest at most and not limited to certain items.
And the item should be gone after use immediately.

I agree and would add that it should allow for faster magic item crafting rather than cheaper buying.

Any balancing mechanic dependent upon Dungeon Master approval just means it's de facto approved because DMs don't want to deal with grown men whining and pouting at the gaming table.

This seems like a dubious conclusion to draw, but I suppose it does vary from table to table and my experience may not match yours
